My training methods are simple so that both you and the dog will understand. They are built on respect for your dog by understanding him. No long complicated commands, just basic common sense. I believe that good behaviour should be rewarded and bad behaviour ignored..
The old fashioned method of physical punishment or shouting at dogs is a NO NO! I do not believe in the use of choke chains or electric collars. These can do a great deal of damage to the dog and they will learn to distrust you.
I've spent most of my life surrounded by dogs and understand that, however good you think you are at training, there are many mistakes that one can make that can result in your dog behaving badly. I know. I had a Springer Spaniel called Percy who went to the Happy Hunting Ground 30 years ago. I made the mistake of not training him properly when he was a puppy so I had little control over him. I have his portrait above my fireplace and a weather-vain, a cut out of him, that invariably points in the wrong direction.
If only I knew then what I know now!
I now live with Fred, a 10 year old Norfolk Terrier and Henry, my 2 year old Yellow Labrador. They both love people and other dogs and Henry often comes with me to meet dogs that are scared of strange dogs. He plays with them and gives them confidence. If your dog has been frightened by an encounter with a dog let him/her meet Henry.
